TRAINING VIDEOS
Fermoy Juvenile GAA has put together a series of training videos for parents and for the girls and boys to watch until we can get back together. There will be more videos focusing on different skills to follow in the coming weeks. The videos can be downloaded on YouTube.

Name: Ryan Sargent

Occupation: Dropout Position: Full Back for hurling and Goalkeeper for football
Career Highlight: Winning the Premier 2A minor county final in 2017,
Favourite film: Shawshank Redemption
Favourite food: Steak and chips When and where did you first start playing? The earliest memory is probably playing the street leagues in St Colman’s at 4/5 years’ old
Favourite Venue: Castletownroche
Favourite GAA player: Tadhg de Burca
Sportsperson you would most like to meet: Frank Lampard
What is the hardest part of your sporting life? Staying fit and not getting injured, easier said than done.
Toughest player to mark in training: Adam Creed
Laziest player you’ve played with: Josh Shanahan

Greatest influence growing up: My old fella
Would you change anything about either game? 2 points for a sideline in hurling and get rid of being sent off for 3rd man tackles.
Most important skill in Hurling and football: Striking and kicking the ball off both sides and make Waterford win an All-Ireland One thing you may not know about me: I’ve got more concussions then points scored in my career.
Advice for young players starting off: Enjoy the game, do the simple things right and stay off the drink

PAST PLAYER PROFILE - NIALL O’DONNELL
Name: Niall O’Donnell
Age: 47 Occupation: Garda Position you played: Backs Highlight of your career: Growing up playing underage I always remember the support at games from the likes of Bill Payne, Dan O’Driscoll, John Fenton, Mick Dolan and the impossible to shout down Tom McCarthy and Ann O’Callaghan. Having Deccie Higgins mind me from the rough lads was always a great comfort and sadly missed when I moved on. Ultimately wearing the Cork jersey was a huge thing to me.
Favourite venue: Castletownroche and later Thurles
Biggest influence growing up: Obviously I was lucky to have Neilie so interested in the club and he always encouraged participation. Starting off Con Cooney showed me the ropes. Pasty Flynn was great and showed me the most important three inches of the hurley as he used to say if you were man enough to use them. Tommy O’Brien and
Joe Kearney always looked after me also.
Favourite food: Anything cooked by my wife or mother Favourite film: Man on fire

Would you change anything about either game? Put weight back in the sliothar

Advice for young players starting off: Set targets and always challenge yourself
One thing you may not know about me: I’ve been involved either playing or training senior hurling championship winning teams in four separate counties

Name: Denis O’Brien
Age: Over 50 Occupation: Company Director Position you played: Anywhere in full back line or on the subs bench.
Highlight of your career: Surviving the trip to Kilmallock via Churchtown for St Colman’s in The Harty Final years ago, with Liam Howard, Mikey O’ Brien, Trevor Cooney and Arthur Coughlan.
Favourite venue: Castletownroche
Biggest influence growing up: Bill Barry
Favourite food: Most fish/shellfish
Favourite film: The Green Mile Toughest opponent you played against: Can’t remember - they were all too fast.
Best GAA player you played with: Not sure if he ever played at my level but Cooney was mighty.
Would you change anything about either game? Limit number of passes in a move in football. Favourite GAA player: JBM Most important skill in hurling and football: Positional sense
Advice for young players starting off: Practice and enjoy yourself
One thing you may not know about me: Got Miksie Dolan his first Adult North Cork Medal and made James McCarthy look a great hurler.
