Field development
The planning applications and process for grant applications has all commenced. It has been several years since any upgrades were done in the community field, and I am sure that most of the community would appreciate improved facilities. Some of these improvements include improved lighting, playground upgrade, walkway, and parking upgrade, as well as pitch improvements. Hopefully over the next few weeks we will have further updates available.
Following on from the litter pick up a couple of weeks ago, the trees are in the process of being cut back to allow the footpath to be widened and this should allow families walk side by side going forward.
LOTTO
There was no winner of last Friday’s draw and the jackpot is now at €3,400. The next draw will take place on Friday, 19th March under strict covid regulations. The numbers drawn were 17, 22, 24. The 5 lucky dip winners of €20 were: Hannah Ryan, Station Road; Noreen Mullane, Rahard; Anne Jones, Cappagh; Johnny Cahill and Stephanie Lombard.
Due to current restrictions we would encourage as many as possible to use the online facility at Clubforce; alternatively, tickets can be purchased in the shop or from your usual seller.
A big thank you to all who continue to support the lotto.
REBELS’ BOUNTY DRAW
A final push is being given on the sale of tickets for the Rebels’ Bounty draw. At this stage all sales are solely for the benefit of Ballyhooly GAA, which will be used in the continued improvement of the community field and GAA area.
A big thank you to all who have already purchased, and for those who have not yet made the purchase please reach out to any of the players or committee members.
There are over €500k in prizes to be won across 12 draws (30 prizes each month) during 2021 and tickets are €100 or €10 monthly. The first draw will take place on the 25th March, and this will incorporate 3 draws for Jan, Feb, and March. When entering please ensure to enter Ballyhooly as the club on the online form.
COVID AND RETURN TO PLAY
As we slowly start returning to normality, all primary children should be back in school next week, we are still waiting for the government to share the roadmap for the return to work, sport, leisure and life in general. The improving weather may encourage more people to venture out and about, can we ask that all our members and our community please continue to follow the guidelines set out.
When the leagues do return the division may be split on two to reduce the number of matches, and it is expected that last year’s formats of round robin will be kept for the junior championships.
Members of our club will continue to monitor the activities in the community field and ask everyone young and old to follow the guidelines. We all want to be Covid free and back out playing our national games as soon as possible and want all our friends and relatives to be able to share in the enjoyment that this brings.
MAIN CLUB SPONSORS
We have joint sponsors, Ballyhooly Homes and Quintas, please support if you can. In these difficult times it is great to have this support from our sponsors.
Stay safe out there.
