Planting at the park
The proposed works at O’Mahony Park, Kilbehenny were taken a small step further on last Saturday.
A section of the boundary trees which were removed last year to create room for the proposed walkway were replaced by beech hedging.
The group of spade-wielding volunteers included Anthony Moloney, Ger Condon, Tom O’Donnell, Dan McCarthy, Tommy O’Dwyer, Liam Allen, Sean and Liam O’Donnell, Covid-19 guidelines were observed during the planting.
CLUB LIMERICK DRAW
The Club Limerick Draw is now open for anyone who wishes to get involved. The draw is a key source of revenue for the club and given the current restrictions due to Covid-19 we cannot hold our usual fundraising events.

The club are continuing to sell tickets for the GAA National Draw. Prizes include €2,000 cash, a brandnew Renault Clio V and All-Ireland hurling and football final packages.
Selling tickets for the National Draw allows the club to raise some much-needed money and gives the ticket buyers the chance to win some brilliant prizes. If you wish to purchase tickets, please contact any committee member or any player from the senior panel.
MINOR FOOTBALL MATCH 2003 Galtee Gaels 1-9 Blackrock 1-7
Galtee Gaels minor team had their first championship game of 2003 on July 17. Blackrock (Kilfinane) provided the opposition and Galtee Gaels had home advantage. Conditions were poor with a strong breeze upsetting play and the game was vigorously contested.
Mike O’Mahony played a captain’s part from his unusual midfield berth and scored the opening point. Blackrock took up the running with three points in a row. Galtee Gaels, through the strong play of Paul Moriarty, Mike O’Mahony and Derek Gallahue around the middle, took the initiative with Eddie O’Gorman and Stephen Cahill points.
When the Blackrock keeper decided to advance on an extended solo run, he was dispossessed by Chris Noonan and Eddie O’Gorman lobbed a goal from 25 yards out. The former added a point but fortune smiled on Blackrock when the ball rebounded from the crossbar to the Galtee Gaels’ net. Galtee Gaels held a one point advantage at the break.
Twice Galtee Gaels extended their lead to three points in the second half. Twice Blackrock reduced their deficit to a single point. Eddie O’Gorman raised another white flag and the margin rested at two points with time up. Blackrock, down to fourteen men, needed a goal. They won a free, just outside the box. Galtee Gaels lined the goals and Donal Coakley made a notable save to clinch victory.
