Glenahulla Virtual Wellbeing Week 2021

-

On the week beginning Monday 8th to Friday, 12th February we celebrated our Virtual Wellbeing Week. Our virtual Wellbeing Week will go towards earning the Amber Flag for our school! This is an initiative run by Pieta House to promote positive mental health and wellbeing in school communities.

The week saw a reduced workload on Seesaw and Google Classroom with more focus on wellbeing activities that could be done at home throughout the week. The activities were linked to the curriculum with an emphasis on positive mental health and wellbeing!

The week was an extremely enjoyable and uplifting one for all the children of Glenahulla NS and their families. It was a welcome break from the routine of remote learning, something different and enjoyable for the children during these unprecedented and challenging times.

Everyday Ms Murphy, our Amber Flag coordinator, uploaded a daily quote, #HealthyHeadHack video from a famous person, mindfulness reflection exercise and a wellbeing activity.

Overall, we had a fantastic week of activities and tips on looking after our mental health and wellbeing! It is such an important topic, not just for young people but for everyone, especially during these times.

It is more important than ever to look after yourself and your mental health and it was certainly a worthwhile week in our school. From the examples of the children’s work here, you will see that the week and the activities lifted everyone’s spirits!

It might even become an annual event at Glenahulla National School with so many celebrities wanting to get involved!
