MAFC

Kildorrery with four first half goals proved too good for Doneraile at Shanballym­ore, At halftime the winners were 4-4 to 0-6 ahead. Doneraile improved a lot on the changeover and a Padraig Brennan goal cut the lead, 4-4 to 1-8. Kildorrery regrouped well and they had some fine points that gave them an 11 point win, 4-11 to 1-9.

Kildorrery scorers: Peter O’Brien 1-4, Richard McEniry 1-1, Shane Fitzgerald 1-1, David Aherne 1-0, Jeremiah Aherne 0-2, Gerry McCarthy 0-1, Jason Walsh 0-1, Sean Young 0-1.

Fermoy maintained their 100% record in the MAFC following their 1-16 to 0-2 win over St. Martin’s in Ballygibli­n. The winners dominated in the half backline and midfield sectors. Their attack, in regular supply, took some very good scores. Fermoy scorers: Alan O’Callaghan 1-4, Ronan O’Callaghan 0-4, David Conran 0-3, Jason Condon 0-2, Alan Baragry 0-1, Ruairi O’Hagan 0-1, Eoin Ryan 0-1.

Glanworth and Blackwater Rovers drew at Shanballym­ore, 1-10 to 0-13. Blackwater Rovers led 1-7 to 0-5 at half-time. Rovers went 6 clear on the resumption. Glanworth made a good comeback and some good points saw the game finish level. Glanworth scorers: Michael Sheehan 0-5, Sean Og Quinn 0-2, Aidan Condon 0-2, Robert O’Driscoll 0-1, James Sheehan 0-1, Alex Sheehan 0-1, Kalin Kelly 0-1.

Blackwater Rovers: Gavin Linehan 1-0, Denis Kiely 0-3, Jerry O’Connor 0-2, Mark Linehan 0-1, David Brosnan 0-1, Ian O’Gorman 0-1, Pa Sheehan 0-1, Conor Linehan 0-1.

Kildorrery had a big win over Glanworth at Mitchelsto­wn, 2-11 to 1-2. The winners led 1-7 to 0-1 at half-time. Further pressure saw Kildorrery have late points by Jeremiah Aherne, Peter O’Brien and Sean Young, as they recorded a 12 point winning margin. Kildorrery scorers: Jeremiah Aherne 1-2, Peter O’Brien 0-4, Richard McEniry 1-1, Sean Young 0-2, Shane Fitzgerald 0-1, James Fox 0-1.

Kildorrery, with a win over Blackwater Rovers, secured their place in the final versus Fermoy. The game at Shanballym­ore was keenly contested and James Fox had the winners’ goal in the 17th minute. The ‘ Hill’ led 1-2 to 0-4 at half-time. A series of points by Peter O’Brien (3), Richie McEniry (2) and Sean Kelly saw Kildorrery move 1-10 to 0-7 ahead. Both sides swopped late points, but Kildorrery ran out winners. Kildorrery scorers: Peter O’Brien 0-5, James Fox 1-0, Richie McEniry 0-3, Jeremiah Aherne 0-2, Sean Kelly 0-1.

Fermoy and Kildorrery met in the final in Glanworth. Kildorrery got the perfect start. Goals by Peter O’Brien and Jeremiah Aherne helped open up a lead of 2-4 to 0-1 after 18 minutes. By half-time Kildorrery were double scores clear, 2-4 to 0-5. The second half saw Fermoy improve. Ronan O’Callaghan had two goals as Fermoy led 2-7 to 2-5. Kildorrery came within a point in the 57th minute. Late points by Ronan O’Callaghan and Alan O’Connor saw Fermoy take the title by 2-10 to 2-7.

Fermoy received a bye into the county MAFC semi-final where they met Newmarket in Charlevill­e. Newmarket had a very good start and led 1-4 to 0-1 after 15 minutes. The Duhallow side had their second goal and were 11 points clear at the break, 2-9 to 0-4. Fermoy did well in the second half but the gap was just too much. They had a goal by Don O’Connell. Newmarket advanced to the county final by 2-13 to 1-9. Fermoy scorers: Alan O’Connor 0-6, Don O’Connell 1-0, Ronan O’Callaghan 0-1, Ruairi O’Hagan 0-1, Ricky Fraher 0-1.

MAFL

Doneraile, with a late William Cronin goal, sealed their win over Newmarket in the MAFL semi-final at Dromina. At the break Newmarket held a 1-0 to 0-0 lead. The final score was 1-4 to 1-2. Doneraile scorers: William Cronin 1-0, Kevin Cotter 0-2, Ronan Good 0-1, Paul Sweeney 0-1.

Fermoy and Doneraile met in the final at Mitchelsto­wn. Fermoy, who already won the MAFC title, now added the MAFL winning by 1-11 to 0-8. They were level 0-1 and 0-2 each early on. Fermoy led 1-7 to 0-2 at half-time, their goal from Jonathan McCarthy. Doneraile did well on the restart, but Fermoy had a comfortabl­e lead and they took the title by a six point margin.

MBFC

Ballycloug­h and Kilshannig played a draw at Buttevant - 0-12 to 1-9. This result of the league style championsh­ip meant that both sides were still in with a chance of making the knockout stages. A draw was a fair result

in the end.

In a play-off at Buttevant, Kilshannig and Ballycloug­h played out a high scoring draw. A goal in the dying moments for Kilshannig saw the sides finish all square, 5-10 to 3-16. Kilshannig scorers: Darren O’Riordan 2-2, John P McAuliffe 1-1, Cathal McCarthy 1-0, Michael P O’Regan 1-0, Martin Kiely 0-3, Trevor O’Regan 0-3, Brian Carroll 0-1. Ballycloug­h: Colm O’Neill 2-6, William Kelly 1-4, Sean Smyth 0-4, Thomas Coakley 0-1, Tadhg Healy 0-1.

The semi-final was played in Buttevant where Ballycloug­h had a point to spare over Kilshannig, 1-9 to 1-8. At half-time, Kilshannig led 1-4 to 1-3. Colm O’Neill kicked the winner in injury time for Ballycloug­h.

In the MBFC final at Buttevant, Ballycloug­h had a 3-9 to 2-4 win over Clyda Rovers. Ballycloug­h with Sean Smyth, Colm O’Neill, Thomas O’Flynn, Sean Walsh, John Lombard and Conor Browne very effective, looked impressive. William Kelly had his second goal and Ballycloug­h were 10 points clear. At half-time it was 2-8 to 1-2. Clyda Rovers did well in the second half, they had a goal by Pa Griffin. A free by Sean Smyth found its way to the net, as Ballycloug­h were crowned champions by an 8 point margin.

In the county quarter-final at Newcestown, Ballycloug­h had a 3-10 to 1-9 win over Castletown­bere. Then, in the county MBFC semi-final, played in Kanturk, Ballycloug­h recorded a 9 point win over Dromtarrif­fe, 3-18 to 2-10.

The county MBFC final at Carrigadro­ichead saw Carbery Rangers have a big win over Ballycloug­h, 3-11 to 1-2. Rangers were 2-7 to 0-1 ahead at the break and Ballycloug­h’s goal by Colm O’Neill came in the 47th minute..

MBFL FINAL

In the semi-final, Clyda Rovers overcame Ballycloug­h by 3-9 to 2-9 at Liscarroll. They were deadlocked 0-6 each at half-time. Both sides exchanged points on the restart with Kevin Roche having a Clyda goal from a penalty. James Fitzgerald had a goal for Rovers who moved 2-7 to 0-9 clear. John Griffin and Tom O’Flynn swopped a late goal as Clyda held out for a place in the final.

Kilshannig had a close win over Clyda Rovers in the final at Liscarroll, 2-11 to 1-10. Kilshannig forwards took their chances well and at halftime the sides were level 1-4 to 0-7. A goal by Darragh O’Mahony edged the Glantane side 2-8 to 0-7 ahead. Pa Forde had a Clyda goal, but Kilshannig held out for a win.

MBHL

Ballygibli­n had a close win over Mill Rovers in the semi-final at Kildorrery by 0-7 to 0-6. Ballygibli­n led 0-4 to 0-2 at half-time and the sides were level at 0-4 each apiece after 44 minutes. Ballygibli­n held out for a point win. Ballygibli­n scorers: Ian Condon 0-6, Alan Lane 0-1

In the other semi-final at Shanballym­ore, Banteer had a 2-15 to 2-11 win over Blackwater Rovers. Banteer led 0-8 to 0-5 at half-time. Three points on the restart made it 0-11 to 0-5. Both sides had two goals each in the final quarter. Blackwater Rovers scorers: Gerry O’Connor 1-3, Fergal O’Connell 1-2, Gavin Linehan 0-3, Shane Howard 0-2, Ian O’Gorman 0-1.

Banteer and Ballygibli­n met in the final at Charlevill­e. The Duhallow side took the title by 0-14 to 1-7. The winners were 0-9 to 0-1 ahead at the break, Ballygibli­n had a goal by Ian Condon midway through the second half, but Banteer held out for a four point win.

McCARTHY CUP FINAL

Araglin took the McCarthy Cup title following their win over Grange by 1-14 to 1-6 at Grange. At half-time, Araglin led 1-6 to 0-4.

KINANE CUP

Charlevill­e CBS had a 3-8 to 2-6 win over St Fintan’s, Doon in the Dr Kinane Cup Munster Colleges U16 and a half hurling final. It marked a 4th success for Charlevill­e CBS who were champions in 1971, 1972 and 1978.

The sides were level 0-3 apiece after 20 minutes and by half-time, Charlevill­e CBS were 0-5 to 0-3 ahead. The winners had the aid of the strong breeze in the second half. They dominated in vital sectors and took some very good scores. In the end Charlevill­e had a five point win.
