Burst main affects 500 customers in Glanmire and Sallybrook area
Five hundred householders in the Glanmire and Sallybrook areas were affected by a burst water main on Monday.
Irish Water, in partnership with Cork City Council, worked to repair the burst main which cause unplanned water supply interruptions, with supply returning at around 6pm that evening.
Speaking on the day, an Irish Water spokesperson said that the organisation was working alongside local authority partners, contractors and others to resolve the issue
“Irish Water and Cork City Council understands the inconvenience caused when works occur and thanks customers for their patience while these essential works are completed in order to restore normal supply to impacted customers and regret any inconvenience caused.
“Irish Water is working at this time, with our local authority partners, contractors and others to safeguard the health and well-being of staff and the public and to ensure the continuity of drinking water and wastewater services,” the spokesperson said.
OTHER OUTAGES
On Tuesday, April 6, a burst main caused water outages and traffic disruptions in the Grange, Fermoy and surrounding areas.
A traffic management plan was in place for the duration of works, with works completed at 4.10pm and supply returning to local residents shortly thereafter.
The same day, a burst water main in the Caherlag area resulted in water outages, traffic disruptions, discolouration of water and reduced water pressure.
Scheduled works due to take place may also cause disruptions to the locality in the coming weeks.
A planned power outage will cause some inconvenience in Ballymacmoy, Killavullen and surrounding areas on Wednesday, April 14 from 9.30am until 5pm that day.
Castlelyons and surrounding areas will also be affected by a planned power outage on Monday, April 19 from 10am until 4pm.
Further afield, in Ballylooby, County Tipperary, local residents may experience water outages as leak detection works are carried out as part of the National Leakage Reduction Programme. These works are scheduled to take place from 1am until 5am on Wednesday, April 14.
