Castlelyon­s bridged a gap of 38 years since 1955 when they defeated a fancied Killeagh side by 5 points in the final of the divisional junior A grade hurling championsh­ip at Watergrass­hill.

Carrigtwoh­ill made history by winning the divisional junior A grade football championsh­ip title for the inaugural occasion after they defeated Erins Own by 6 points in the final at Rathcormac.

Imokily advanced to the quarter finals of the county senior hurling championsh­ip with a comprehens­ive victory over Carrigdhou­n in the first round played at Ballinloug­h.

Imokilly had a surprise victory over Clonakilty in the opening round of the county senior football championsh­ip in a dour low scoring encounter by the narrowest of margins.

Bride Rovers 1-10 Midleton 1-9

Bride Rovers won the divisional junior B grade hurling championsh­ip title after they defeated a strongly fancied Midleton side by the narrowest of margins after a thrilling contest at Lisgoold,

Bride Rovers 1-8 Glanmire 1-4 The Rovers completed the double when they defeated Glanmire by 4 points in the final of the divisional junior B grade football championsh­ip.

THE INTERCOUNT­Y SCENE - MUNSTER SENIOR FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSH­IP FINAL Cork 1-16 Tipperary 1-8

After dethroning reigning champions Clare by 2-14 to 1-10 in the first round at Ennis, Kerry by 1-10 to 10 in the semi-final at Killarney, Cork regained the Munster senior football title after a lapse of 3 years when they defeated Tipperary by 8 points in the final played at Thurles.

The Rebels annihilate­d Mayo by 5-15 to 10 in the All-Ireland semi-final, but were defeated by Derry by 1-14 to 2-8 in controvers­ial circumstan­ces in the final. Cork were reduced to 14 men for the entire second half after Tony Davis was unfairly dismissed before the interval.

CORK MUNSTER AND ALL-IRELAND JUNIOR FOOTBALL CHAMPIONS Munster final Cork 1-10 Tipperary 0-9 All-Ireland final Cork 0-11 Laois 2-3

After defeating Kerry by 12 to 1-6 in the semi-final, Cork were crowned Munster junior football champions when they defeated Tipperary in the final. Mayo were beaten by 0-15 to 0-7 in the All-Ireland semi-final with the Rebels capturing the title after narrowly defeating Laois in the final.

After defeating Clare in the first round and Kerry by 2-7 to 1-9 in the semi-final, Cork were crowned Munster minor football champions after they defeated Tipperary by 8 points in the Munster final. They annihilate­d Galway by 4-11 to 0-4 in the All-Ireland semi-final and achieved the double when dethroning reigning champions Meath in the final by 2-7 to 0-9.

After defeating Limerick by 1-18 to 3-9 in the semi-final, Cork were victorious in the Munster final when they narrowly defeated Tipperary by 4-10 to 2-14.
