The Avondhu

Back to the action

-

Well we now have something to aim for and I’m sure players, coaches, managers and parents/guardians were all delighted with the news from the Government that we can get back to training on Monday, April 26th.

It will be in pods of 15 but this should not cause too much hassle. The coaches will be in touch with all players in the next week or so with a plan. At the moment we have no date when games can take place. Indeed, this may not happen until later in May at the earliest.

I’m sure the members of the league committee will be anxious to get this date so they can plan for the leagues and indeed cups going forward. Like the league, clubs too will be happy to have some plan for them as well. We may not know too much until sometime in May.

BIRTHDAY GREETINGS

Many people celebrated their birthdays in the last week. Patricia Condon and Ann O’Keeffe (Tobin) both were on the same day. Damien Pescod also celebrated his birthday. Then we had the Kerryman, namely Sean Gleeson, and Orla baked a lovely cake for Sean and Eddie ate it. Ha ha! Congratulations to everyone and I hope you all had a terrific birthday, even with no parties.

BACK HOME

Mickey Curley is back home after his second hip being replaced. Sons Mickie and William got him some Easter eggs and ate them themselves because the father could not. Emma had more sense.

SYMPATHY

The club extends its deepest sympathy to the Daly family, Convent Street, on the sad passing of Mickey in Letterkenny, Co. Donegal on Saturday last. May he rest in peace.

HAPPY EASTER

We hope everyone enjoyed the Easter weekend, despite the lockdown. At least we have some easing of level 5 in the coming weeks.

HELLO GIRLS

A belated happy Easter to the Convent Street girls now in Luton, namely Chrissie and Ann. We know the girls get the wave on a Saturday evening. Not forgetting head of security at Luton Airport, Val. Stay safe girls.
