Emer Feerick profiled this week

-

Up this week for the ladies player profile, is current player Emer Feerick.

Age: 30. Occupation: Retail, if you need power washer I’ll hook you up. Position: Goalkeeper. Career Highlight: Winning the Australasia state games in Perth after 95 minutes of play. Level after full time, level after 20 minutes of extra time, level after 10 minutes extra time, and going down to first score wins. It was intense. Then topped off by having Michael D Higgins himself present me with my medal.

Fermoy highlight would be beating our lovely rivals Bride Rovers in the U21 championship in 2010. Favourite film: Don’t have one, I like a lot of them. Favourite food: Pizza. When and where did you first start playing? Started playing when I was 7 in the back pitch in Fermoy. Favourite Venue? Fermoy Main Pitch, nice to play on the home ground. Favourite GAA player? Patrick Horgan. Sportsperson you would most like to meet? Katie

Taylor. What is the hardest part of your sporting life? Living with these knees.

Toughest player to mark in training? Ashling Hutchings, like she’s just too fast and strong for me. Laziest player you’ve played with: Carly Shanahan (sorry Carly). Joker on the panel? Marie Bailey. Greatest influence growing up? Roy Keane. Would you change anything about either game? Nope. Most important skill in hurling and football? Being able to look up and communication. One thing you may not know about me: I hate butter. Advice for young players starting off: Enjoy it and practice your weak side too.

Lastly, pick your own 6 aside inter county football team: Goalkeeper: Martina O’Brien. Fullback: Emma McGuire. Halfback: Ashling Hutchings. Midfielder: Clara Fitzpatrick. Half forward: Aishling Moloney. Full forward: Saoirse Noonan.
