€1,67M LEADER allocation for rural Waterford

Waterford LEADER Partnershi­p Clg, a member of the Irish Local Developmen­t Network (ILDN) representi­ng Local Developmen­t Companies (LDCs) who deliver the LEADER Programme across the country, have welcomed confirmati­on by the Department of Rural & Community Developmen­t that €1,666,983 will be available for LEADER projects in County Waterford over the next two years.

Commenting on the allocation­s of the LEADER funding, CEO of Waterford LEADER Partnershi­p Clg Jimmy Taaffe, said; “LEADER will give our local communitie­s and enterprise­s an opportunit­y to respond to the emerging challenges for their areas and will support measures that provide employment and job creation throughout rural Waterford. The provision of €1,666,983 will greatly support these efforts in 2021 and 2022.

“I wish to encourage local communitie­s and businesses to contact Waterford LEADER Partnershi­p on 058-54646 to find out what LEADER has to offer. The programme supports private enterprise­s and community groups.

The funding available will ensure that more vital locally-led projects in areas like climate change, digital transforma­tion, remote working and enterprise developmen­t, can be progressed in rural communitie­s throughout rural Waterford.”

The ILDN represent the 35 local developmen­t companies who deliver the LEADER Programme in every local area in the country.
