Eva a scholarship recipient at UCC
Congratulations to past pupil at Coláiste Fionnchua, Mitchelstown, Eva Corbett, who has received both the prestigious Quercus Entrance Scholarship and BEd Gaeilge Scholarship from UCC. The Quercus Entrance Scholarship is awarded to first year students. Sixty such scholarships are awarded each year and they are based on Leaving Cert results.
The Quercus award recognises exceptional students and rewards excellence in academics. Eva also received the BEd Gaeilge Scholarship. We, as a school, are very proud of Eva. During her time at Coláiste Fionnchua, she was a very well-rounded student who participated in all aspects of school life.
Eva knew the importance of academic life, and put the time and energy into her studies, which enabled her to get her first choice at university. Eva is now studying for a Bachelor of Education in Gaeilge and French and we wish her every success.
1ST YEAR STUDENTS 2021-2022
We recently welcomed incoming 1st years into the Coláiste Fionnchua school community. Just prior to the Easter holidays, students took their first step into secondary school life by taking part in our Transition and Transfer Programme, which enables the smooth transfer to secondary school.
Parents and guardians also took part in the meeting and were given the information necessary to ensure a smooth start to school life at Coláiste Fionnchua.
Students also got to meet some of their new teachers, as well as their future classmates, on a live Teams meeting. In addition to that, they took part in a fun, interactive Kahoot Quiz showcasing their broad general knowledge.
On the night, three students won One4All vouchers for their efforts. Well done and congratulations to Eoghan O’Donnell, Ronan Stack and Hannah Hennessy. We can’t wait to meet the 1st year class of ’21-‘22 in person very soon!
