Community funding allocated to West Waterford groups
A number of West Waterford groups and organisations were allocated funding out of a €67,260 Community Activity Fund at the most recent Waterford City and County Council Plenary meeting.
Ballyduff Community Centre Development Company were allocated a sum of €615, which was announced at the meeting on Thursday last.
Tidy Towns groups were successful in their applications for funding with the Cappoquin, Ballyduff Upper and Tallow Tidy Towns all receiving a €670 allocation, with Lismore Tidy Towns receiving €550.

Group and Tallow Community Council were all allocated a sum of €615.
In Lismore, the Foroige Club were allocated €600 in funding while the Lismore Community Alert received €225 in funding.
Lios Mór Mochuda Men’s Shed were successful in their application, receiving a sum of €300 under the Community Activity Funding.
The Blackwater Ladies Club in Knockanore received €450 in funding through the scheme, while the Irish Wheelchair Association was allocated €396.
Bee keeping and conservation efforts received allocations under the scheme too, with the Irish Bee Conservation Project and the County Waterford Beekeepers Association both receiving €615 in funding.
A number of residents’ associations throughout Waterford city and county were also rewarded under the Supporting Waterford Communities Fund 2021, with the majority of residents’ associations receiving a €670 allocation. According to Mayor of Waterford City and County, Damien Geoghegan, this represents an increase of €145 on last year’s allocation of €525.
SPORTING GRANTS
West Waterford sporting groups also saw a number of funding allocations under the Sports Recreation Fund 2021.
Ballyduff Upper Camogie Club and Ballyduff Upper GAA club all received €615 in funding, while the Ballyduff Upper Ladies Football club received a €450 allocation.
In Lismore, €615 was allocated to Lismore AFC and Lismore Cricket Club while the Lismore Tennis Club received a €600 allocation.
Cappoquin Rowing Club received the most common sum allocated under this fund, which was €615, while Tallow Camogie Club received a sum of €610.
Blackwater Juvenile Badminton Club received a €615 allocation also whereas the Blackwater Athletic Club received €435.
Funding allocations made this year by Waterford City and County Council represented an overall increase when compared to sums allocated in 2020, according to Mayor Damien Geoghegan.
“In excess of €194,000 allocated today across residents associations, sports clubs and community groups,” he said.
