First mini-concert by Fermoy Classical Music Society
The first in a series of three mini-concerts went online on Easter Saturday. It featured accomplished pianist Aidan Duggan playing the very beautiful Intermezzo. Op. 118, No. 1 by Johannes Brahms and talented tenor Orison Carlile, who gave a moving rendering of the well-loved ‘Macushla’ by Dermot MacMurrough. Orison was accompanied by Aidan Duggan.
The Society was very happy to provide a platform for some of the extraordinarily talented young musicians from the area, award-winning performers and students of Aidan Duggan. These were: two remarkably talented sisters, Fiona and Lucia Miao, Amhlaoibh Ó Síocháin Ó Beoláin and Gareth Reilly. These young musicians gave sensitive and skilful performances of works by Bach, Mozart, Cormick and Arens. The whole event lasted about 20 minutes.
DIFFICULTY ACCESSING CONCERT SITE
Unfortunately, some people were disappointed on finding that they could not access the concert. It is hoped that this difficulty will be avoided next time. To follow the concert, there are a few steps: first, you should access the Society’s home page at http://www.classicalfermoy.com/ which provides a link to Eventbtrite where you can register free of charge for the concert. You will receive an acknowledgement by email of your registration and another email on the day of the concert. This is where the difficulty arose, as the email provided first a link to the Society’s home page, and further down, a link to take you straight to the performances. It is important to look for the link “access to concert” which may appear towards the end of the email.
