Busy week for Seandun Macra
This week was a busy one for our members as we had four acts competing in the semi-finals of the NTCS. The national talent contest is always a popular one with our members as we had many entries to our regional round. We heard some great solo singers and instrumentalists on the night and saw members test their knowledge in the Mastermind category also. We are delighted with the result, as five of our acts are now through to the national finals.
UCC Macra will represent us in the ballad group and TicTok categories, Aisling Walsh in the traditional irish dance, Meg O’Sullivan will represent us in the solo instrumental category and Gillian Kenneally will put her knowledge to the test in the Mastermind section. Make sure to tune in for the national finals on the 24th which are sure to be highly entertaining. We’re looking forward to seeing our members perform. There will also be a public vote, so we’d love if people could tune in to see our acts perform. The final of the NTCS will be broadcast live on Saturday 24th across Facebook on the Macra National Talent Contest page so make sure to check it out.
Wednesday saw us hold our monthly meeting for April. With the days getting brighter our members are looking forward to getting some more exercise in. Stay tuned for our upcoming skipping challenge. A huge well done to everyone who successfully completed our 9 week couch to 5k last week. A great achievement as everyone had their own personal journey in mind.
This week also saw a new presidential team being elected as John Keane got the most nominations and will take over as the incoming Macra president. Well done to him and to Elaine Houlihan who won the most votes and will take up the Munster VP position. Best of luck in your new roles and thanks a million to both Thomas Duffy and Sean Wallace who did great work in their positions as president and Munster VP for the past two years. We wish them well in the future.
Saturday saw Ballincollig Macra’s Dominic Twohig do our weekly radio piece. Thanks a million to him and make sure to tune in to hear Joanne O’Leary’s interview on Farmtalk this Saturday morning.
