The Avondhu

Return to action on April 26th

-

Thankfully the news we had been waiting for from Government has arrived and we will be back on the pitches with underage players in the coming weeks. We are aiming to commence with U7 and U8 football on Monday night, April 26 with hurling for these age groups on the following Thursday, April 29.

The U6s, i.e. children born in 2015 (or 2016 if they started primary school last September), will start the following week on Thursday, May 6. As this will be the U6s’ first time coming to the pitch, can all parents please contact Ned O’Brien on 087-9349071 over the coming days to register your child’s interest. We will also hand out flyers in the school to all junior and senior infants to explain what it is we do and how you can get involved.

COACHES

Whilst a number of people have come on board to help out with the smaller age groups, we are always on the lookout for additional new coaches, helpers etc. If you have an hour or two a week to spare and are interested in helping out, please do not hesitate to contact Ned O’Brien, Alan Kenny or Christy Beecher. You do not need to have played the games to get involved or need to be available for every single session and any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

MEMBERSHIP

For insurance purposes, all players, members and coaches must pay their membership before they return to the pitch. Due to Covid restrictions, we will not be in a position to have a registration night as per previous years on this occasion. However, the GAA have introduced a new website called Foireann which can be used to pay membership. This site will also be used to complete “Return to Play” questionnaires for the children on training and match days.

To use the Foireann system, firstly, log on to www.foireann.ie. If you used the site last year, your log in details will not have changed. If this is your first time using the site, first click “New User? Register” and follow the directions to first verify your email address and to then create your profile. Please note you must add Kilworth as your club on your profile.

Once you are set up on the system, first click the membership option on the left hand side, select Kilworth as your club and then you can select which ever membership option suits you. Please note if you are selecting any group membership option (husband/wife, family, more than one child etc) can you please click “Family” on the drop down menu and then “Add Family” to include all family members on your profile before choosing your membership option.

As previously, there are discounted rates for family membership, wives/partners, 3rd and subsequent children, OAPs etc so please take time to ensure you are selecting the best option for you. The system also replaces the older paper form where you were asked your preferences in relation to club communications, use of your/your child’s image in team photos, action shots etc, any medical issues which the club may need to be aware of etc. If you have any queries in relation to the system, please do not hesitate to contact club registrar Alan Kenny (086-8536501).

Looking forward to seeing everyone on the pitch on the 26th.
