CoI parishes plan for outdoor summer

-

As the summer months unfold, Mallow Union of parishes of the Church of Ireland are planning two events.

The first is the Summer Fête, planned for Saturday, 7th August at St James’s Church, Mallow from 11am to 2.30pm. There will be a selection of stalls, refreshments, homegrown and home-baked food available. The church will be open to welcome visitors and to provide a reflective space.

The second is a celebration of the Eucharist on Sunday, 29th August at 11am at St Mary’s Church, Doneraile.

When there are five Sundays in the month, the three churches of Mallow Union of parishes (Mallow, Doneraile and Castletownroche) join together for one service on the fifth Sunday. It gives parishioners the opportunity to worship together and offers an opportunity to welcome visitors and pilgrims to the area. Weather permitting, it is hoped that the Eucharist on 29th August will take place outside, followed by a picnic. All are very welcome join us.

The Rector of Mallow Union, the Reverend Meurig Williams, said ‘ worship, welcome and hospitality are key parts of the Christian life and I hope these two events will enable us as churches to be open and welcoming to the wider community.’

Reflecting on the difficult and restrictive nature of the past 15 months, the Rector added ‘people are longing for space to breathe, to meet others, to enjoy the beauty of the world around us and, even after so much pain and grief, to thank God for the good things we can still enjoy together.’

He said that there will be many prayers for fine weather too!
