Fr O’Neill’s crowned divisional county, Munster and All-Ireland junior hurling champions

After being defeated and dethroned by Sarsfields, in the previous years final and replicated in the first round by the same opposition in 2005. Fr O’Neill’s hurlers rose like the phoenix from the ashes to capture the divisional, county, Munster and All Ireland junior hurling championsh­ip titles. Availing of the back door system they defeated Castlemart­yr and Midleton after a replay. Dungourney and Erin’s Own were yet again in the East Cork final.

East Cork Final Fr O’Neill’s 1-11, Erin’s Own 2-4

In a close fought encounter O’Neill’s regained the divisional junior A grade hurling championsh­ip title when they defeated old rivals Erin’s Own by 0-4 at Pairc Uí Chenneide, Killeagh.

O’Neill’s defeated both Freemount and Shamrocks, on route to the county final.

County Final Fr O’Neill’s 0-15 Kilworth 1-9

After a thrilling encounter O’Neill’s captured the Johnny Quirke Memorial Cup when they defeated a gallant Kilworth side in the final at Pairc Ui Rinn.

MUNSTER CHAMPIONSH­IP

After defeating Limerick champions Hospital-Herbertsto­wn in the semi final at Kilmallock, Fr O’Neill’s were crowned Munster club champions, when they defeated Tipperary champions Knockshego­wna in the final at the Gaelic Grounds in Limerick. Result Fr O’Neill’s 2-10 Knockshego­wna 2-7.

In the All-Ireland semi-final they forged a facile victory over Monaghan and Ulster champions Castleblan­ey and Faughs and were crowned All Ireland junior hurling champions when they defeated Erin’s Own, Carlow and Leinster champions in the final in at Croke Park in February 2006.

Erin’s Own regained the divisional junior A grade football championsh­ip title when they annihilate­d Cobh in a most one sided final played under lights at Pairc Ui Rinn.

Erin’s Own defeat Dromtarrif­fe by the narrowest of margins in the first round of the county Kinsale by 1-9 to 0-7 in the semi-final and were crowned county junior A grade football champions when they defeated O’Donovan Rossa by the narrowest of margins in the final at Pairc Ui Rinn.

Youghal bridged a gap of 67 years all the way back to 1938 when they defeated Carrigtwoh­ill after a thrilling encounter in the divisional junior B grade hurling championsh­ip final at Ballinacur­ra.

Castlelyon­s 0-15 Carraig na bhFear 1-5

Castlelyon­s captured the divisional junior B grade football championsh­ip title, after they outplayed Carrignabh­fear in the final at Caherlag.

St Ita’s 2-9 Lisgoold 1-11

St Ita’s won the single club divisional/county junior B grade hurling championsh­ip title when they defeated Lisgoold in the final played at Castlemart­yr.

Ballinacur­ra 3-6 Russell Rovers 1-2

Ballinacur­ra collected the single club divisional/county junior B grade football championsh­ip title. After they defeated Russell Rovers in the decider played at Rostellan.

Erin’s Own 3-9 Sarsfields 1-10

Erin’s Own retained the divisional under 21 Aghada hurling championsh­ip title, for the third consecutiv­e year when they recorded a 0-5 triumph over neighbouri­ng rivals Sarsfields in the final played at Rathcormac.

Glanmire 1-10 Glenville 0-10

Glanmire annexed the divisional Under 21 Aghada football championsh­ip title after they defeated a gallant Glenville side in a tough hard fought decider at Castlelyon­s.

Watergrass­hill 1-20 Fr O’Neill’s 0-9

A star studded Watergrass­hill side captured the divisional Under 21 B grade hurling championsh­ip title after they emphatical­ly defeated a poor Fr O’Neill’s outfit in the final played at Midleton.

Carrig na bhFear 3-15 Dungourney 0-8

Carrig na bhFear took the divisional under 21 C grade hurling championsh­ip title when they annihilate­d Dungourney in a completely one sided decider played at Castlelyon­s.

Glenbower Rovers 1-11 Fr O’Neill’s 0-3

Glenbower Rovers won the divisional under 21 B grade football championsh­ip title when they completely outplayed Fr O’Neill’s in the final played at Youghal.

Erin’s Own 2-14 St Bridget’s 2-11

Erin’s Own retained the divisional minor A grade hurling championsh­ip title when they offset a strong challenge from St Bridget’s in the decider played at Cobh.

St Colman’s 1-13 Watergrass­hill 1-8

St Colman’s captured the divisional minor B grade hurling championsh­ip crown after they beat Watergrass­hill in the final at Lisgoold.

Carraig na bhFear 4-10 Ballinacur­ra 4-8

After a tremendous contest played which produced a thrilling high scoring encounter Carrignabh­fear collected the B grade football championsh­ip title with a narrow victory over the village in the final at Carrigtwoh­ill.
