INTERCOUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP

It was a weekend starting off with four of the most imbalanced results imaginable. Putting pressure straight away in their championship status irrespective of code or province. Described on BBC NI on Sunday last as one sides Saturday.

It was better the day after yet only marginally. Donegal too strong for Down while down here in the south, Clare were nearly punished for some erratic wasteful occasionally appalling finishing before securing a deserved four point success over a fancied Waterford as the Munster hurling championship kicked off. Now the banner must face Tipperary in the semi-final on Sunday coming. While the Deise will be glued to the Monday 8.35 slot and see what the upcoming qualifiers will bring whenthe time comes. Indeed it’s a weekend when both provincial finalists will be named as Limerick face Cork in Thurles which will be shown on Sky Sports on Saturday evening.
