U12 CAMOGIE

Bride Rovers U12 camogie team travelled to Mallow on Friday evening for their second league match of the year.

Our hosts settled quickly to their task and were the first to register a score, the girls slowly settled into the game and were back on terms by the sos uisce. When the referee resumed the game the girls quickly raised a couple of flags to move ahead on the scoreboard by half-time.

With 17 girls wanting to play there was constant rotation to ensure all played a significant part in the game. All the girls played their part throughout the match and earned themselves a well-deserved win, thanks to all the parents for their support and encouragement

U12 FOOTBALL

First league match for our second U12 team consisting of 95% 11 year olds, was played in Killeagh against Inch Rovers Sunday, June 27.

With a strong wind favouring Inch in the first half we found ourselves six points down at the interval. After a quick pep talk at half-time the girls were raring to go for the second half and quickly netted two goals to bring us back on level terms. It was two and fro for the remainder of the game with some excellent skills and shooting displayed by both teams. Inch had an opportunity in the dying seconds to seal the game but, to our relief rattled the crossbar with a thunderous shot instead. To their credit our girls rallied and saw out the remaining moments to secure a one point victory. The final score was Bride Rovers 3-8 Inch Rovers 4-4.

All credit to Inch who were fantastic hosts and ensured a most enjoyable game between two young teams with very bright futures.

U14 FOOTBALL

Bride Rovers U14 ladies continued their winning start to the season with another strong showing against a strong Midleton side. Bride Rovers came out with all guns blazing and continued the onslaught on the Midleton goal, going in at halftime 6 points up, leading 2-5 to 1-2. While Midleton did rally after the half-time break, the girls composed themselves and returned to form, working the ball out well, turning defence into attack and kept picking off their points. The total team effort was encapsulated towards the end with the Bride Rovers forwards coming back to join in the defence of the final Midleton onslaught as they threw everything into their attack. It wasn’t to be though with Bride Rovers coming out on top for the win with the final score Bride Rovers 2-13 Midleton 3-7.
