FOCUS ON HURLING

-

Hurling was the focus of the past week, with a feast of hurling action across all age grades as we hosted Lisgoold GAA in matches mid-week and last Saturday. Big thank you to our visitors Lisgoold, who travelled through the week providing all spectators with some fine displays. This week it’s nearer neighbours Killavullen for football action, and the focus turns to Cúl Camp next week for 6-13 age groups. We hope all the kids enjoy the Cúl Camp, make new friendships and enhance their skills from training, and thanks to all involved with the organising and great to have this event on the calendars once more.

U7s AND U8s

Last Saturday, June 26 U7s and U8s combined to host Lisgoold in hurling. This was a perfect chance for both age grades to combine and ensure we could host all our visiting players who travelled in large numbers. Four pitches were in action, with four teams from each side, comprising of U7s and U8s, teaming up well, to put on some great displays on what was an enjoyable morning for all. Well done lads and keep up the practice.

Team 1: Jayce Relihan, Sean Holland, Liam O’Connor, Joshua O’Driscoll, Charlie Grumbridge and Kian O’Connor. Team 2: Jamesie Burke, Sean Hanrahan, Darragh Hanrahan, Jake Roberts, Kyle O’Regan and Aidan Mulhall. Team 3 :Stephen Gowen, Colin Fitzgerald, Eoin Woods, Cathal Murphy, Rian Howley and Thomas McCurtain. Team 4: Tadhg Nash, Darragh Nash, Riley Troy, Archie Gray, Jack Gowen and Rian Finnan.

U9s

Well done to U9s who hosted Lisgoold on Tuesday, June 22, also in hurling. They put on a very strong performance with some great blocking, tackling, striking and shooting on show. Well done lads.

U10s

The U10s were in mid-week action once more as they hosted Lisgoold in hurling last Wednesday evening. In glorious weather conditions, both sides served up two evenly matched games with some great fielding, scoring and teamwork on display, not to mention some fine saves by the goalkeepers, who stopped some powerful shots. Well done to all involved. Best of luck to the boys, as they travel to Killavullen this Saturday for their football fixture.

U11s

To round off last Saturday’s activities in Ballyhooly, the U11s played Lisgoold. After a slow start, the boys got to grips and put in a good showing of teamwork, defensive and attacking skills. Well done to all.
