LADIES

On Tuesday, 15th June the ladies 12 hole competitio­n was a fourball champagne scramble with variety of scoring chances for par 3s, 4s and 5s. It proved to be very exciting and competitiv­e.

Many teams were enjoying coffee and clutching cards with scores in the 80s, when the winning team of Imelda Fitzpatric­k, Eleanor Cummins, Anne Fahy and Fiona Rea arrived with 91pts! Second place went to Deirdre O’Neill, Imelda Buckley, Hilary Murphy and Teresa O’Dwyer with 88 pts. Well done ladies and congratula­tions. We now wonder what surprise Margaret has in store for us next Tuesday!

Thursday, June 17 saw the first Medal Competitio­n of this season and it was strokeplay. Further great results with Richella Dowling (H/C 30) top of the field with 68 nett. Anne Fahy (H/C 36) 70 nett was second and third went to Susan Morrison (H/C 26) 74 nett (C/B). Congratula­tions ladies.

UPCOMING LADIES FIXTURES

A busy week ahead. Australian Spoons Qualifier from Monday, June 28 until Sunday, July 4 including scotch foursomes. Entry and re-entry. Thursday, July 1 18 hole singles S/F. Saturday and Sunday, July 3/4 is Open 18 hole singles S/F and GOY 3. Every Monday for July we will run a 9 hole S/F qualifier.

LOTTO

Our latest draw took place on Sunday, June 27. The jackpot was €1,400 and was not won. Next week’s jackpot will be €1,450. Thank you for your continued support.

AIG PIERCE PURCELL 2020

On Saturday evening last, June 26 the crystal piece was handed over to the club after Cahir Park Golf Club won the area final of the AIG Pierce Purcell in 2020 and went on to represent the club in the Munster stages of the competitio­n.

Manager of the team, Tom Hickey and 2021 men’s club captain accepted the piece on behalf of the club at a small gathering at the first tee box in the park. The piece will be on display in our clubhouse once it reopens.

MEN’S

Our Open ABP Qualifiers continued last week from Tuesday, June 22 until June 24. In category one Con O’Driscoll, playing off 5 shot a solid 39 points to claim his category. In category two, Eoin Cahill returned 40 points playing off 14 to top the leaderboar­d in his section. John Burnett picked up the category 3 prize, signing off for 38 points playing off 19. Well done lads. Our open ABP qualifiers continue weekly.
