Revving up to raise funds in Araglin
Community activists get very little time off in Araglin. On Sunday next (18th July), volunteers attached to Araglin Carnival committee will oversee a fundraising vehicle run in aid of the Rathcoole based Air Ambulance - this is hot on the heels of the exploits of local runner, Claire Lomasney, who raised over €4,000 for the same charity.
DEPARTING ARAGLIN COMMUNITY FIELD AT 12.30PM
Those intending to take part in the tractor, classic car and motorcycle run are requested to assemble in Araglin Community Field from 11.30am. Here, they will be registered (which includes a fee of €20) and light refreshments will be served before drivers/ riders depart at 12.30pm sharp.
Specific routes have been drawn up for the various vehicles, with every effort taken to avoid urban centres and busy thoroughfares. Participants are urged to have their vehicles in good mechanical order, to be conscious of potential hazards along the way and to be respectful of fellow road users.
PRIZE FOR BEST TURNED OUT
Organisers would like to thank the individuals and businesses who have sponsored prizes for best turned out vehicles - this is much appreciated.
THE ROLE PLAYED BY THE AIR AMBULANCE
The ability of the Irish Community Air Ambulance to get to the scene of a critical incident can be the difference between life and death. Araglin and surrounding areas have had occasion to call on the services of this vital emergency service and as a result, have seen at first hand, the professionalism and efficiency of these highly trained paramedics.
Unfortunately for the Air Ambulance, it receives no Government funding and relies on donations to keep going. With such a deserving charity benefitting, members of the public are encouraged to do their bit by taking part next Sunday.
