Ger wins captain’s prize
Our gent’s captain John Hogan’s Prize took place last weekend. From first card on Friday evening till last card on Sunday morning the tee boxes were taken up, this was testimony to the popularity of John. The course was looking fantastic, all concerned take a well-deserved bow. During competition there wasn’t any talk about good scores being recorded from those playing, some say they recorded big scores after sampling the beautiful refreshments!
Ger Burke played steady pitch and putt on Saturday and Sunday to claim overall prize on a score of 83. John Walshe was 1st. Nett winner on a score 87. Michael Gowen was 2nd. Nett winner on a score 89. Kevin Doyle was 1st. Gross winner on a score of 102. Jerry Greehy was 2nd. Gross winner on a score of 107. Best past Captain’s Prize was John McCarthy on a score of 91 Nett. Best back 9 Patsy O’Mahony on a score of 23. Hole in one Seán Howard. Ladies’ 1st. Nett went to Catherine Morrissey on a score of 85. Ladies best Gross went to Stephanie Dunne on a score of 124.
At presentation of prizes chairman Michael Gowen welcomed all and thanked John Hogan for a great weekend of pitch and putt. In reply Captain John Hogan thanked all who supported his competition over the weekend. He thanked Jason Geaney and all who had the course in such pristine condition. John thanked competition secretary John McCarthy for his great work in checking all the cards over the weekend. He had a special word of thanks for our ladies who supplied the excellent and welcome refreshment which were greatly appreciated. It was all part of the occasion which is part of the Captain’s Prize. He also thanked Eileen Leonard for her professional work with the camera. John also remembered our past captain and dear friend Paddy Leonard who passed away since the last Captain’s Prize. I am sure he was looking down on us with a special eye on those beautiful sweet cakes. R.I.P. Paddy.
Another gent’s Captain’s Prize over, congratulations John on a great weekend and thanks for the good times. Congratulations to all the winners. This is the event that makes us dream of success every year roll on 2022 we will surely have that swing perfected by then!
Tuesday evening’s 4ball winners were Dan Noonan and Ella Lovett (on the back 9) on a score of 41Nett. Patsy O’Mahony and Mary Quane were Gross winners on a score of 53. Thursday evening’s 3ball winners were John Walshe, Michael McGrath and Breda O’Keeffe (on the back 9) on a score of 861/3 Dan Noonan, John C. McCarthy and Noel Scannell were Gross winners on a score of 109.
Competitions continue as usual Tuesday and Thursday evening’s tee off 7pm sharp. Sunday morning Tee Off 10.15a.m. sharp.
