A win for U15s over De La Salle

-

WEDNESDAY 7TH JULY COIS BHRIDE U15S Cois Bhride 2-13 De La Salle 4-06

In our final group game we entertained a strong De La Salle team in Tallow. De la Salle got off to the better start and with the elements at their back opened up a six point lead in the first half. We countered their lead with Stephen Murphy from placed balls and Alex Goode from play making the score line more manageable.

In the second half Luca Tobin scored a goal and point in quick succession and he turned the game on its head. Our defence was under serious pressure and De La Salle scored two goals leading into the final quarter. A few things of note in ending. Our midfield powered into the game and Stephen and Joseph were the outlay and launching pad to all of our attacks. Conor’s range from placed balls improved and the score was interchanging throughout the ending. Aidan Murphy scored a great left handed goal strike to push us into the lead. De La Salle cut through again in attack but was thwarted by Billy Murphy in goals. In a way of excitement the whistle blew for a one point win.

Team: Billy Murphy, Gearoid Hynes, Jack Henley, Paul Henley, Taylor Twohig, Ben Grey, Harvey Hagan, Steven Murphy, Joseph McDonnell, Darragh O’Brien, Conor Henley, Danny Power, Shay Pratt, Aidan Murphy and Alex Goode. Subs used Luca Tobin, Dean Cronin and Ben Sheehan.

U12s

Friday evening, July 9th our U12s played Brickey Rangers in Knockanore on what was a very wet evening. The boys and girls battled hard in tough conditions but unfortunately it wasn’t to be their night and were defeated in the end against a strong brickie team. Final score: Brickeys 1-02 Cois Bhríde 1-01.

Special thanks must go to Murphy Plant & Agri for the sponsorship of a new set of jerseys for the players.

U10s

Saturday morning, July 10th Cois Bhríde U10s travelled to Kilgobnet to play against St. Pats. A great effort was put in by the boys and girls. They had a great game, some lovely hurling and scores on the day. They were only narrowly defeated and gave it their all. Well done to all.

Also on Saturday in Tallow, Cois Bhride were hosts to Abbeyside in an U8 Deise Óg blitz. We fielded 3 teams and each team played 3 matches. The sides were very evenly matched and the boys and girls from both clubs thoroughly enjoyed the morning, all showing great potential on the pitch. Thanks to Abbeyside for travelling to Tallow.

On Monday night 12th July our U7 hurlers travelled to Clashmore to take part in a blitz. Well done to all the future stars who took part, showing off some of their lovely skill and thanks to the hosts Clashmore / Kinsalebeg for the invite.
