Low scoring encounter
FOOTBALL LEAGUE Castletownroche 0-03 Glanworth 1-07
We played our latest Division 2 League match against Glanworth last Tuesday evening. The game was held in Glanworth and breezy and damp weather made for very difficult playing conditions.
Abbey Rovers played in to the stiff breeze in the first half, and despite good lead up play, were unable to finish off some promising moves. Defensively, we held Glanworth out for much of the half and turned trailing by 5 points.
The second half saw conditions deteriorate further and Abbey Rovers did get back in to the contest.
Again, some poor shooting left us down and a Glanworth goal with time running down killed off any chance of a comeback. In a low scoring encounter, it was Glanworth who emerged deserved 1-07 to 0-03 winners.

HURLING LEAGUE Castletownroche 1-09
Charleville 5-27
The hurlers played their first league match of the season last Sunday night, where they travelled to Charleville to meet the home team in Division 2 of the North Cork League. Once again, conditions were unseasonably wet, with heavy downpours making for tricky conditions. It sounds incredible to say it, but this was the first hurling game for Castletownroche since they exited the championship last August, a full 11 months ago.
A much-changed team took to the field from that last game, and they endured a tough hour. There was no lack of effort from the entire panel, but there is no substitute for match practice, and this game will bring the lads on no end. Charleville emerged comprehensive winners on a scoreline of 5-27 to 1-09. The lads will now regroup for the next league game in a couple of week’s time.
Team: Mick Ryan, Noah O’Brien,
