Solid performances from Glanworth
U11 HURLING Glanworth 4-09 Killavullen 1-02
Fresh from another hugely successful Cúl Camp in the Club, the Glanworth U11 hurlers took on Killavullen last week. The first half was very finely balanced with Killavullen playing with a strong breeze. The Glanworth backs of Kyle Hughes, Cian Browne, Colm Walsh, James O’Keeffe and Matt McGrath along with goalkeeper Luke O’Donnell did very well to contain the Killavullen attack. At the end of the first half the match was level at two points each.
Glanworth put in a strong team performance in the second half. Some lovely scores from Christian Connolly got the scoreboard ticking over. In midfield, when not scoring themselves, Joe McGrath (2-05) and Joey Wilson (0-02) kept the pressure on Killavullen by delivering good ball into the forwards. Over the course of the second half, Glanworth gradually pulled away from a fine Killavullen team. The forwards, Fionn O’Connell, Robbie O’Neill, Charlie Gallagher, Christian Connolly (2-02), Kevin Quinn, Tom Lee and
Tristan Curran did very well and a solid team effort secured victory for Glanworth.
U9 HURLING AND FOOTBALL
The Glanworth U9 team put in a great performance against a strong Ballyhea side on Monday night. It was a super team effort from a group of lads who have been honing their skills at training over the last few weeks.
They built on their recent match against Doneraile, with really good hand passing and running. Glanworth took some fantastic opportunities to score from the boot and at the end of the match in Ballyhea, the referee called it a draw.
Glanworth team on the night: Ciaran Roche, Cian Hurley, Conan Selma, Jack McGrath, Rory Fuller, Danny O’Keeffe, Finbarr Conran, Rojus Rimgaila, Elijah Walsh, Ryan Linehan, Sean McAuliffe and Eoin Desmond.
Their next match is against Fermoy (hurling).
U7 HURLING AND FOOTBALL
Meanwhile, the Glanworth U7 lads have also been practicing hard over the last few weeks. Having travelled to play Doneraile recently, they look forward to their upcoming fixtures against Mitchelstown (hurling) at home and St Catherine’s (football) in Conna. Best of luck, lads!
