Giving back to those who gave so much

- KATIE GLAVIN

“Giving back to those who gave so much during the pandemic” is the reason local business owner Rebecca Bargery signed up for ESDA.ie

ESDA.ie, the Emergency and Essential Services Discount App, is an Irish business connecting emergency service workers with local Irish businesses and great discounts.

The app claims to continually link local businesses with the staff of Ireland’s frontline and essential service workers to give something back in the form of discounted services and products.

Emergency services who qualify for the app include Gardai, Doctors, Nurses, Healthcare assistants, Army, Irish Red Cross, Ambulance Service and more.

Speaking with TheAvondhu, Rebecca Bargery of Bec’s Pets located on Fitzgerald’s Place, Fermoy said that a lot of Gardaí avail of the services her business provides.

“We got on board to give back to the community and to offer a service to essential workers. It’s giving back to those who gave so much during the pandemic,” she said.

Once downloaded, you can view different regions in the app and the discounts the amounts of which business owners can set themselves and vary when they choose.

In the Cork North region, 12 businesses are on board with the new app so far including a tile and carpeting business, a crash repair service, a marquee and inflatable hire service, and even a chauffeur company.

A full list of discounts can be found on the ESDA.ie website and on the App which is available to download on the App Store or Play Store.
