Mitchelstown St Vincent de Paul Society – a difficult year
As we approach the Christmas season, unfortunately, we have to think of the many families who have to make difficult, if not impossible choices about what they can afford this Christmas.
Exorbitant rents, food, fuel, hospital visits, education, and unforeseen expenses are all part of the mix. It is when we listen to what people have to tell us, we can really understand and appreciate their situation. For many, the St Vincent de Paul Society is their first port of call - and why not, that is what we are there for. We are always glad to help.
We are therefore appealing to those who can afford it, to be that bit more generous towards our collections this year. It is an excellent opportunity whereby we can all help our neighbours.
Our annual collection takes place on week ending 11th/12th December. In preparation therefore and to be compliant with Covid-19 protocols, we intend to leave our distinctive blue donation envelopes at the following locations from Saturday, 4th December: all churches within our area, the Ozanam Resource Centre Mitchelstown; Mitchelstown Credit Union; Aldi supermarkets; Tesco supermarkets; SuperValu and Lidl supermarkets.
You may collect an envelope at any of these centres, enclose your donation and hand it in to either the parish collection basket on the 11th or 12th December or to the Ozanam Centre between 10am and 5pm Monday to Friday.
We greatly appreciate your support in the past and trust you will think of SVP who are doing our utmost each week to help those less fortunate than ourselves.
Our sincere thanks and may the good Lord protect you and your family.
