Speeding and 3 times over the legal limit on M8
A motorist is due in court after being detected speeding on the M8 by the Mitchelstown Roads Policing Unit (RPU).
On Sunday, November 28, the driver was travelling in excess of the speed limit on the ‘very busy and wet’ M8, according to Gardaí. A breathalyzer test was carried out and the individual was found to be three times over the legal limit for alcohol.
“Things went from bad to much worse though as they were also driving whilst over 3 times the legal limit for alcohol,” a Garda spokesperson said.
The individual was issued with a court date for which they could see a maximum fine of €5,000 imposed and/or six months in prison and disqualification from driving.
“Slow down and never ever drive whilst intoxicated,” the spokesperson concluded.
