Paths and lights upgraded across region

- MARIAN ROCHE

End of year works are being completed across Mitchelstown, Fermoy and its surrounds before the end of the year.

Public lighting improvements have been completed recently on Brigown Road, Mitchelstown, as well as on the Clonmel Road at the top of the town. Also, Pike Road in Fermoy has seen works completed, as has Brough Cross in Doneraile.

Improvements in Kildorrery are due to commence in December, as will other works in Doneraile, including from the village to Turnpike Cross.

A requst for a public light between numbers 1 and 2 at Beechwood Grove in Mitchelstown was made by Cllr O’Brien at a November council meeting, which will be considered under the 2022 programme, funding permitting.

On the ground, footpath repairs are being carried out by outdoor crews in Conna, Curraglass and Doneraile. Contractors working on behalf of the council recently were working in Castlelyons, before moving on to finish work on three separate projects in Rathcormac.

These works are due to be completed by the end of December, with the potential for the Doneraile works to progress into January 2022.

Footpath repairs and upgrades are due in the new year on Lower Cork Street in Mitchelstown. The works have been delayed so as not to be a hindrance to Christmas shoppers in the town.
