Who runs Cork County Council?
Dear Editor, Further to the gross negligence displayed by Cork County Council as I see it, over their inaction on dangerous buildings, the Legislation (Derelict Sites Act 1990) and Local Government (Sanitary Services Act 1964) is very clear. Cork County Council have legal obligations to protect the public from the collapse of such structures.
Who makes the decision not to act? Why has the structure in Upper Cork Street, Mitchelstown been on the Derelict Sites Register for 13 years without notice being served to the owner to make the structure safe?
Who runs Cork County Council? Is it our elected representatives? Or the officials? Exactly what role do our elected representatives have in such matters?
Yours, Ted Myers,
Kilworth.
