Transition workshop at Colaiste

- KATIE GLAVIN

First year students at Coláiste an Chraoibhín recently participated in a ‘Transition Workshop’ facilitated by drama therapist, Donna O’Keeney.

This workshop focused on goal setting, resilience and how to ask for help.

According to Miss Wilson, the workshop was a very worthwhile one and allowed students to touch on issues that may arise when adjusting to a new time in their life, using creative and interactive methods.

“It gave the students an opportunity to engage and interact with others and to realise that others experience the same feelings and experiences also. All students participated well and enjoyed the workshop with their peers.

“I would like to thank Donna for her expertise and for making the workshop such a worthwhile experience for the students,” Miss Wilson said.

Games, drama, role play, voice work, movement and storytelling were used as practical tools to help students explore and solve the above issues.

Students really enjoyed participating and engaging in the role play.

Students commented that “Creative expression is a fun way to learn and to come up with solutions to reallife problems.”
