Final round of the group games of the President’s cup

- PADDY POLLARD PRESIDENT’S CUP – JUNIOR TEAMS

On Sunday, November 28 both Valley Rangers A and B teams were playing their final round of the group games of the President’s Cup. First up was Valley Rangers B team who welcomed Cappoquin/Railway to Conna.

It got off to a dreadful start for Valley as Cappoquin scored within the first 2 minutes. In the 23rd minute Cappoquin stretched their lead to 2-0 and 6 minutes later the game was effectively over as Cappoquin scored a third goal and they went in 3-0 up at half-time.

3 minutes into the second half a well worked move by Valley and Dylan Crotty finds the back of the Cappoquin net to make it 3-1. The next goal would be decisive - if Valley could get another goal back it would make the game very interesting but Cappoquin scored the next goal to make it 4-1. Things got worse for Valley as Cappoquin scored 2 more goals and see out the game 6-1.

Valley Rangers A team made the trip to Kinsalebeg in a top of the table clash with both teams already in the semi-final. Ten minutes into the game and Valley Rangers took the lead, a shot by Calvin Gleeson finds the back of the Kinsalebeg goal. It is nip and tuck now and in the 26th minute Kinsalebeg have an equaliser to make it 1-1. That is the way the first half finishes up with nothing between the 2 teams at the moment. At the start of the second half Kinsalebeg take the lead 2-1. Valley Rangers up the tempo and in the 52nd minute a free kick which is taken by Chris Kelly and finds the back of the net to make it 2-2. Both teams are pushing hard to see if they can get a winner but it finishes up 2-2.
