An active end of season
As the camogie and ladies football seasons wind down, some of our squads have had an active end of season.
The U12 Mitchelstown ladies footballers had an enjoyable training session with the new Cork senior ladies manager, Shane Ronayne. Great numbers turned up, despite the driving rain on the night. The girls, and the watching coaches, picked up plenty of tips for next year! Thanks to Shane, and good luck in your new appointment.
The U10s have had a series of joint camogie and ladies football training sessions on Saturday mornings in O’Connell Park. For some of the girls, this would have been their first experience of camogie, so hopefully some will have been bitten by the bug. Special guests at one of the sessions were Cork senior hurler Niall O’Leary, and local Mitchelstown and Ballygiblin stars Mark Keane and Mikey Walsh.
Next year’s U14 and U16 camogie squads have been keeping up their fitness with strength and conditioning sessions. Many thanks to Mary.
CONGRATULATIONS AND GOOD LUCK
Congratulations to Ballygiblin in winning the county junior A hurling title. An incredible last quarter performance was enough to bring the trophy home and make history. Well done to Fionn and the boys.
This weekend sees the Mitchelstown footballers contest their second county intermediate final of the calendar year. A great comeback last weekend against Kilshannig secured their place in the 2021 final. Show the same spirit on Sunday and the cup will be coming back to town. Good luck! Come on Town!
The St Fanahans Camogie and Mitchelstown ladies football colours were very prominent at those recent matches. It would be great to see as many members as possible supporting the footballers in Cork on Sunday, and the hurlers in their Munster semi-final the following weekend. Wear your colours with pride.
As Christmas approaches, stay safe and well, and shop local when you can.
