VIP coming to town!

-

On next Saturday night, a person far more important than Larry McCarthy, the current president of the GAA, a person more important than Kevin O’Donovan, the Cork GAA CEO, is coming to Killavullen, and it’s…Santa.

Now, Michael D Higgins made representations and he was turned away, as was Finian Magner, chairperson of the Killavullen GAA club – the night belongs to Santa!

Organized by the CSSR group, that is the Community Santa Special Recruits, led by chief elf’s Maire Cremin and Roseanne Roche, Santa will make a whistle stop tour of Killavullen on that night. A huge thanks to the CSSR Group for getting things organised to make this yet another spectacular event in our community.

Cars are asked to assemble in the car park of the GAA grounds and persons, even small persons are asked to stay in their bubbles (cars) and Santa will by special powers invested only in Santa, magically appear. Follow Santa on the night, if you can keep up on his magical mystery tour.

BAD NEWS

COLLECTION OF MUNSTER MINOR FOOTBALL MEDALS

Killavullen GAA supporters at last Sunday’s senior county finals were delighted to witness two Killavullen players on the field of play, as part of the Cork minor football team that won the Munster minor football championship earlier this year. The team was introduced to the crowd and paraded around the stadium. On that team and panel Killavullen had Patrick O’Grady and Niall Murray. Killavullen GAA Club is very proud of the achievements of these fine players who are great ambassadors for our club and inspiration to our younger players. Patrick and Niall were recipients of their Munster minor medals on the day.

FIXTURES

Killavullen played Clyda Rovers in U21B football championship on Wednesday night, December 1 at 20.00pm in Mourneabbey under lights. Killavullen received a walk over from Charleville last Saturday, and hopefully nobody went to Shanballymore. We did try with WhatsApp messages, and text messages and phone calls to advise people of the late cancellation. Check our website for details, as fixtures can be quite fluid at the moment.

The 2021 AGM of Killavullen GAA Club will take place in the Community Centre on Friday night, December 10 at 8pm. With it having been a busy but truncated year, due to Covid restrictions, Finian Magner as chairperson has presided over a busy campaign. Come along on the night to hear the 2021 review from secretary Joe Howard, and to hear of the state of the club finances from Sean Turner, club treasurer.

CONGRATULATIONS TO MALLOW

Killavullen GAA Club extend sincere congratulations to Mallow on winning the senior A football championship in Páirc Ui Chaoimh last Sunday, and thus promotion for 2022 to premier senior ranks. Sean Hayes was the hero with a late goal, but Mallow’s path to the final had been very progressive and they came up trumps on the day that mattered. Well done.
