-

Twenty months later than scheduled, last weekend saw the conclusion of the O’Neill’s All-Ireland 4-Wall 2020 Championship Juvenile finals in Kingscourt Handball Club, Co Cavan. Two of Conna handball club’s juveniles were delighted with the opportunity to play in these finals following a lot of hard work and training since public health guidelines allowed the return to handball.

On Saturday, 27th November, Diarmuid O’Connell donned the Cork jersey in the U14 boy’s singles final against Kilkenny opponent, Conor Doyle. Diarmuid put in a great performance to win the silver medal with Conor emerging as the winner on the day. On Sunday, 28th November, Cian Dunning teamed up with Boherbue Handball Club’s Tomas O’Connor as they represented Cork in the U14 doubles final. Their opponents were John Hayes and Cathal Buckley from Kilkenny and the two pairs were very evenly matched, with the match going to tiebreaker which Cian and Tomas won to take the title.

Next weekend, attention returns to the final days of the delayed adult finals, with Conna Handball Club’s John Herlihy, representing Cork, due to take on Dublin’s Egin Jensen at 11am on Saturday, 4th December in the Emerald Masters A singles final. John’s match and all other adult finals taking place in Kingscourt, Cavan over the weekend will be streamed live online. We wish John the best of luck.
