Mallow too strong for Fermoy in U21 A FC semi-final

Mallow with an experienced side proved far too good for Fermoy in the Under 21 A FC semi-final at Fermoy on Sunday.
Mallow, with five of their side members of their recent county senior A FC panel, led from the start. They were very impressive in the half back line and Richard Lombard was outstanding at midfield. Six points in the opening quarter by Richard Lombard, Peadar Hennessy, Peter Attridge, Jamie O’Keeffe, Aidan Bolster and Jack Dillon had them 0-6 to 0-0 clear at the first water break.
The trend continued on the restart, with Sean McDonnell and Peadar Hennessy adding a point each. Fermoy had a goal from Ben
Twomey who soloed through. Mallow’s Eoin Kelleher placed Jack Dillon for a fine point. A foul on Eoin Healy led to a pointed free by Peter Attridge and Sam Copps, with a good point, had Mallow leading 0-11 to 1-0 at half-time.
Mallow added four points without reply in the 3rd quarter by Peter Attridge (2), Eoin Kelleher and Jack Dillon. Fermoy battled to the end against the odds and they had three late points by Ben Twomey (2) and Ciaran Cloney. Fionn Heffernan had a late point for Mallow, as Daniel O’Sullivan scored had a late goal for the winners. Mallow will now meet Kilshannig in the final.
