Kildorrery lady set for Leadership recognitio­n with Macra

Kildorrery’s Emma Hurley is set to proudly represent the region, being nominated for the 2021 Macra na Feirme Leadership Awards. Ms Hurley, who is a member of Ballyhoura Macra, is nominated for the Avondhu region.

The competitio­n promotes young leaders and acknowledg­es the volunteers in Macra na Feirme and the contributi­ons they make in their local communitie­s.

The finalists will take part in a final interview this Thursday, judged by Mairead Lavery, the former editor of Irish Country Living; Seamus Banim from ABP Food Group and Seamus Phelan, Macra na Feirme past president.

Chairman of Mitchelsto­wn Macra, Brian Martin, paid testament to Emma’s enthusiasm in getting the gangs organised, and getting them going!

“Emma’s brilliant at organising everything, and she’s very enthusiast­ic about getting people involved. She’s a part of our rainbow team, and she’s excellent at getting teams together. We wish her the very best of luck for tonight!”

Also in contention is Banteer’s Caroline O’Keefe, alongside four other finalists from Offaly, Waterford, Cavan and the Carbery region of Cork.

The final will be hosted by Matt O’Keefe, editor of Irish Farmers Monthly and past president of Macra na Feirme, with special guest speaker Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Leo Varadkar TD.

The awards will be streamed live on the Macra Facebook page this Thursday evening at 7pm.
