THERE’S A HOLE IN THE BUCKET IN KILDORRERY!
While Kildorrery Water Tower is awaiting news if it will be included in the next tranche of funding projects to be announced by Irish Water, the leaking tower is being handled, apparently, by a bucket.
Walking by the tower on a dry day, the noise of water dripping out of the tower is audible as it hits an overflowing yellow rubber bucket at the base of the tower.
It was confirmed in July last year that funding for the work - either solving the problems of the leaks and augmenting with a new reservoir, or the demolition of the current tower and building of a new one - was not forthcoming from Irish Water Asset Management.
The village will have to wait until the next tranche of funding is announced. Irish Water have been contacted to confirm the date of that funding annoucement.
MITCHELSTOWN WAIT
In Mitchelstown, the services company is currently reviewing a report on options to increase capacity at the wastewater treatment plant. The interim solution aims to increase capacity at the plant by about a third. Currently, the plant has a capacity of 5,600. Irish Water plan to ‘provide additional capacity in the region of 1,800 to 2,000 P.E.’
The company expects to be able to confirm the preferred option in four to six weeks.
