The Avondhu

Bright start to 2022

-

With the formalities of the Club na nÓg AGM complete, officers ratified and the team managers in place for 2022 season, training kicked off Tuesday under the floodlights at the Mitchelstown Leisure Centre.

All the managers and coaches were kept on their toes with the huge numbers that togged out for the U7s, U9s, U11s and U13s for the first training session of the 2022 season. It was clear from energy and enthusiasm on display from all the players (and coaches) that everyone was thrilled to get back out on the pitches performing drills and kicking football after a long winter of lockdowns and restrictions. The second session of the evening saw John Quane put the U15s and U17s through their paces and despite some huffing and puffing at the outset they too got into a rhythm and quickly brushed aside the winter cobwebs for tough but enjoyable training session overall.

There was however a more sombre moment during the night when between training sessions, as a show of solidarity for the family and friends of Ashling Murphy, there was a minute’s silence observed by all players, coaches and parents in attendance on the night. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam.

Galtee Gaels Club na nÓg training continues at the Mitchelstown Leisure every Tuesday night at 6.30pm for the U7s, U9S, U11s and U13s. and at 7.30pm for the U15S and U17s. A €2 charge per player applies to cover lighting costs. Please spread the word that Galtee Gaels Club na nÓg welcomes all new members. If your son or daughter are undecided about joining a football club why not come along Tuesday night at 6.30pm, meet with one of our coaches and try out a training session, fun is guaranteed.
