A cold easterly wind failed to dampen the spirits of a good turnout of players who took to the tee boxes for a fourball competitio­n on Sunday morning. Despite the cold being hard on the fingers good scores were returned. Seán Howard and Frank Roche were 1st nett winners on a score of 40. Barry Doyle and Tom Byrne were gross winners on a score 51. Michael Gowen and Breda O’Keeffe were 2nd nett winners on a score of 411/2.

Tuesday afternoon’s scotch fourball (two scores to count at no.18) winners were Christy Murphy and Kay Riley on a nett score of 47 1/2. Derry Walsh and Liz O’Rahilly were gross winners (on the back 9) on a score of 60. Thursday afternoon’s fourball competitio­n (two scores to count at no.18) winners were Pat McSweeney and Tom Shannahan on a nett on a score of 40 1/2. Pat Houlihan and Kay Riley were gross winners on a score of 56.

Tuesday and Thursday afternoon’s competitio­ns will now tee off at the later time of 2.30pm sharp. Sunday morning competitio­n tees off at 10.15am sharp.

It was a good weekend for three of our members namely, Seamus O’Connell, Seamus Fox and Jerry Burke who had the pleasure of seeing their club, Ballygibli­n qualify for the All-Ireland junior hurling final, to be played in Croke Park. Well done from all in the club.
