All managers are asked to have the results phone number so that they can text in half-time and fulltime scores along with their team’s scorers and a brief report if they wish. Both sides must phone in with the information, but it is the home side who is responsible for the result. Again, please text information to this phone number 0830890833.

U11, U10, U9, U8 and Academy fixtures are up on league website and clubs can arrange times that suit for these games between team managers. Please ensure fair play and even game time for all the boys and girls taking part. It is about learning, having fun and enjoyment with your friends.

Goalkeeping course continues on Wednesday nights at the Ballybridge club complex in Ballymacoda from 7-8 pm with Finn O’Sullivan doing the coaching.

PDP COURSE

The Zoom part of the course is on Friday night and the practical part is on in Brideview United from 10am to 1pm on Saturday where club coaches will be taken through the small sided games set up for pitches and players in the 4v4 5v5 7v7 format.

RESULTS FOR SATURDAY, JANUARY 22 U13 LEAGUE Mogeely 1 Ballyduff Rovers 1

This was a very tight affair, with little to choose between the sides. In the end a draw was perhaps a fair result with both sides scoreless at half time. Rian Noonan scored for Ballyduff while Mogeely salvaged a point with a goal from Darragh O’Driscoll.

Clashmore Ramblers 1 Cappoquin/Railway 4

Cappoquin heaped pressure on the leaders as they are now in top spot after another good win away to Clashmore Ramblers. Goals from Mikie Ware (2) Cathal Hogan and Rory Fitzgerald were enough to propel them to the top of the table and with Brideview and Kilworth not playing Cappoquin sit on top of the table this week.

Castlebridge Celtic 1 Valley Rangers 2

Although these two sides are closer to the bottom than the top they served up a decent contest with victory going to the visitors, winning 2-1.

Ardmore v Ballybridge United Dysart Park Postponed due to Covid issues in Ballybridge. Kilworth Celtic v Brideview United Sheila Flynn park (postponed, re-fixture TBC).

U15 LEAGUE Ardmore 2 Mogeely

Two late goals secured the points for Mogeely in this last game of phase 1. The visitors who gave some of their U14 squad members a run out had a very enjoyable contest against an Ardmore side who despite losing half their team continue to field. Mogeely were kept at bay with Luke Hennessy making some fine saves. Mogeely went in front with a close in finish and doubled their advantage with a deflected effort. Ardmore continued to battle and were rewarded with goals from Jack Ahern and Arravind Nair to leave it 2-2 at the interval. It could have gone either way with Sean Hayden going close for the home side. However, it was Mogeely that took the points with two late goals bringing an enjoyable contest to a close.

FINES

A number of clubs are not sending in the results and scorers (especially if they lose) so fines will be issued to these clubs as per rule.

U15 LEAGUE PHASE 2

The league committee met earlier in the week to confirm how phase 2 would be completed, with leagues with 8 teams dividing into a top 4 and bottom 4. However, as we do not have sufficient clubs for separate divisions the top 4 will carry over their points for phase 2 while in the bottom half teams will start with zero points, thus giving teams who were suffering heavy defeats the chance to compete at a lower level.

Lismore 2 Brideview United 4

A really good contest in this opening game of phase 2 with little to choose between two well matched sides. Both defended well before Brideview opened the scoring with Jack Henley reacting quickest to shoot home after a corner kick was not cleared. The visitors extended their advantage with Roy Nugent finishing off a good move to put Brideview 2-0 at the interval.

Lismore showed plenty of battling qualities in the second half as they took the fight to Brideview and were rewarded with two goals to leave it a level contest once more. Brideview made a few changes and the fresh legs helped with Dean Cronin putting Brideview back in front before Adam Pratt completed the scoring to give Brideview the points and keep them on track to retain the U15 title.

Ballyduff Rovers 9 Clashmore Ramblers 4

This was a goal fest as neither defended well with all the plaudits going to the attacking sides with Ballyduff going in front through Ty Corcoran. The home side doubled their advantage with Corcoran again on target.

Darragh Ryan pulled one back for Ramblers with a fine free kick. It was the home side who looked the more creative, adding another two goals to lead 4-1 at the interval with Ty Corcoran and Killian English in top form.

The second half was more of the same with Ballyduff Rovers adding a further four goals with Oisin Hannigan, Brian Burke (2) and Corcoran before Clashmore mounted a late rally with Rian Power scoring and Mossy Keogh hit a further brace to leave it 8-4.

Ballyduff Rovers had the final say with Corcoran scoring his fifth of the afternoon as Ballyduff Rovers keep the pressure on Brideview United as they trail by just three points with two games remaining.

U13 INTER LEAGUE V WEST CORK IN CROSSHAVEN

The League U13 side faced West Cork in Crosshaven on Sunday, January 23 and despite a battling display it was West Cork that ran out 3-0 winners.

U14 INTER LEAGUE V WEST CORK IN CARRIGALINE

The U14 side also suffered a 2-1 defeat in Carrigaline. Hugo Quann gave the WWEC the lead in the 10th minute but West Cork drew level in the 20th minute. A late penalty brought the opening half to a close with West Cork converting to lead 2.1 at the interval.

WWEC had several good chances in the second half but poor finishing saw neither side add to their tally with West Cork holding out for the win.
