Fermoy hospital looks online for donations
Fundraising. Vital, never ending. Volunteer members of St. Patrick’s Community Hospital, Fermoy have been at it since 1983. The first big event was a walk from Cork city to Fermoy, supported by the late Donncha O Dulaing.
Since then, there have been raffles, draws, coffee mornings, cake sales, table quizzes, auctions, race nights, golf classics, fashion shows, 45 drives etc, etc. As we say, never ending.
Covid-19 impacted on a lot of things, especially fundraising. Groups like St. Patrick’s Community Hospital, Fermoy Fundraising
Association really felt the pinch as so many ‘ traditional’ revenue streams dried up.
GOING, GOING - ONLINE
18 months of restrictions have allowed the association plenty of time for reflection and with an eye to the future, those who want to support the hospital can now do so virtually (online).
“While, we expect established fundraising activities to return, the association have decided to embrace technology and give people the option of donating online from the comfort of their home or office,” long serving association PRO, Tadhg O’Donovan told TheAvondhu this week.
He went on to speak about the latest developments at the extensive hospital site.
“Work is progressing well on the new extension. It’s a vote of confidence for the hospital and really good news for existing and future patients”.
PRETTY STRAIGHT FORWARD
Anyone with internet access should be able to log on to www. fermoyhospitalfundraiser.com. From here, the interface is user friendly. The donation process is easy and very secure. Those using the site will also see a lot of useful information relating to the hospital. This may also be an opportune time to think about assisting the hospital’s fundraising association. They are always open to new ideas and it would be a great way of giving back to a hospital that serves an extensive North Cork catchment.
TWO GREAT SERVANTS
Through the pages of TheAvondhu, Tadhg and his colleagues wish to send good wishes to two of the association’s most loyal and devoted volunteers - Willie Cannon (Fermoy) and Tom Barry (Rathcormac).
