UNDERSTANDING SCHOOL-BASED ANXIETY
The HSE Primary Care Child And Family Psychology Service have devised a new workshop schedule for 2022, with workshops on new topics relevant to children and families.
A parenting workshop delivered on Thursday, 27th January, addressed the topic ‘Understanding School-based Anxiety’. A lot of children suffer with school-specific anxiety, which has been further exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdowns.
The online parenting workshop was accompanied by a subsequent Parent Support Clinic (PSC), consisting of a 45 minute consult with a clinical psychologist and an assistant psychologist during which parents could seek bespoke advice to help them support their child with challenges relating to school-based anxiety.
REGISTRATION NECESSARY
All of the upcoming parenting workshops are online for the increased health and safety of everybody, as well as accessibility. Registration via phone is necessary to attend the workshop and once you register, an invitation link will be sent to each participant via email in advance of the workshop.
A workshop schedule for the upcoming months, will see a variety of topics covered. These include: ‘You, Your Teen And Big Emotions’ on Thursday, February 17th (10am-11.30am); ‘Managing Your Small Child’s Big Emotions’ on Thursday, March 24th (10am-11.30am); ‘Raising Resilient Teens’ on Thursday, April 7th (10am-11.30am); ‘Your Child’s/Adolescent’s Anxiety’ on Thursday, May 19th (10am-11.30am).
