Scoil Pól hold successful fundraiser for Cliona’s Foundation
Last Tuesday week, Scoil Pól were delighted to welcome to the school representatives of the charity Cliona’s Foundation, and to present a cheque to the charity for €500.
Cliona’s Foundation is a national charity that provides financial assistance directly to the parents of children with life-limiting or chronic complex care needs.
Last December, the Scoil Pól corridors were full of festive cheer, flashing earrings and jazzy jumpers, as the Wellbeing Committee organised a festive jumper day on behalf of Cliona’s Foundation on Monday, 13th December. The school welcomed Charlotte Kavanagh and Terry Ring of the foundation to Scoil Pól in Kilfinane for the presentation of the cheque last week, on Tuesday 25th, the day on which the school celebrates their patron saint, St Paul.
Scoil Pól were delighted to be supporting such a worthy cause. According to the school, it was appropriate that on the same day they presented the cheque, that Cliona’s had issued cheques to seven more families, bringing the total number of families helped through the charity over the 1,000 milestone mark, to 1,004. All these families were assisted since 2008, and were or are caring for a child with a life limiting illness, while carrying the burden of very significant additional costs associated with this care.
“Cliona’s believes that no family should have to suffer financially when caring for a sick child, and their support to families as a result of the wonderful support received from the community helps alleviate the pressure that they are under.”
As Ronald Reagan once said, “We can’t help everyone, but everyone can help someone”.
