Renewal time for Rebels' Bounty
This rebranded draw will be kicking off soon. Last year, it brought in €4,000 for the club, which was a huge return. You renew your €100 subscripton online. The first draw takes place on Thursday, 24th February.
NATIONAL CLUB DRAW
This was another new initiative for the club last year and it brought in €3,000. The format is very attractive in that prizes, including a car, are sponsored by Croke Park, with clubs retaining all proceeds from the €10 tickets. Araglin Juvenile GAA have taken over this draw as a fundraiser for themselves and the draw co-ordinator is Frank Kiernan (086-7947918).
PLAYERS' MEETING ON SUNDAY AT 3PM
Players who intend making themselves available for selection should attend a very important meeting in the field on Sunday next (6th Feb.) at 3pm. The new hurling set up for 2022 will also be revealed.
LOTTO RESULTS
The red carpet from Christy may not have materialised, however, we returned to our 'spiritual home' last Thursday for the weekly lotto. Our jackpot of €5,100 wasn't won. The cash consolation prizes went to the following: €50 Mary Condon, c/o John Condon Sr., Gortnaskehy; €50 The Unbeatable Four Syndicate, c/o John O'Brien, Ballard; €25 Mary Galvin, c/o Araglin Hall Bingo and €25 Liam O'Flynn, ESB, Fermoy, c/o Grange GAA.
Next draw is tonight (3rd Feb.) in Christy's at 9.30pm for a jackpot of €5,200.
DATE SET FOR SCRAP METAL COLLECTION
The scrap metal collection takes place in Araglin Community Field on Saturday, 12th February. Suitable material (metal only) can be dropped off in the community field - arrangements can be made to collect larger items.
CLOTHES COLLECTED
The latest consignment of clothes (100 refuse sacks) were collected from Araglin Community Field last week. All proceeds go to Araglin National School Parents' Association.
ARAGLIN NATIONAL SCHOOL ENROLMENT
Araglin National School would like to hear from parents or guardians who have a child of school going age. Numbers at the school are very healthy at the moment and hopefully this trend continues.
OPERATION TRANSFORMATION WALKS CONTINUE
Those who want a bit of light exercise away from the public roads are welcome to take part in the Operation Transformation walk which takes place in Araglin Community Field on Thursday evenings between 7 and 8pm.
ALMOST NATIONWIDE
Araglin have plenty interest in this weekend's All-Ireland junior hurling final involving our neighbours, Ballygiblin and Kilkenny representatives, Mooncoin. Brian O'Gorman from Ballinamona is eligible to play football for Araglin having transferred from Mitchelstown; team captain, Fionn Herlihy's mother is an Araglin woman and believe it or not, Barry Coffey is a former Araglin team mascot - this is explained by the fact that his father, Michael John Coffey, was the Araglin hurling coach when we won our first county hurling title in 1999.
ART SUPPLE TO PLAY IN ARAGLIN
According to some Art Supple started 'a farewell tour' in the 1990s - it's remarkable to think this man is still going strong. It's even more remarkable when you factor in he was an established star in the 1970s. While only a handful of people have ever seen the birth cert, it's safe to assume he must be in his mid 80s. This Peter Pan of the Irish music industry is pencilled in to perform in Araglin Hall on Saturday, 19th February - as part of, you guessed it, 'a farewell tour'.
BINGO ON SUNDAY
Bingo (with the choice of an indoor or outdoor format) returns to Araglin Hall on Sunday next, 6th February at 2.30pm.
EDDIE SAYS 'THANKS'
Eddie O'Donoghue was in touch during the week requesting that we thank everyone who helped make last Sunday night's fundraiser in Christy's such a success. There was a huge crowd in attendance and everyone really enjoyed themselves. The singing ranged from first class performers to those with 'interesting voices'. Fair play to everyone who stepped up to the microphone.
The auction was also a good money spinner with some valuable items and interesting memorabelia going under the hammer. Top bidders on the night included, Brendan Carey and Rory Kenneally, who is getting a guided tour of Castlehyde Stud. Proceeds from the night, which topped €1,000, are going to Pieta House.
