WEDNESDAY WALKING

Garryspill­ane GAA continuing walking on Wednesdays from 7pm till 8pm in conjunctio­n with Operation Transforma­tion and Ireland Lights Up and will continue every Wednesday evening until Wednesday, 2nd March, 2022. It’s great to see so many on Wednesday evenings out walking. Plenty room for more. Suitable for all ages and abilities.

SPLIT THE POT RESULTS

31st January 2022 - €110 TJ Ryan and Crew. Split the Pot is our weekly fundraiser. You can enter by putting your name and contact number on an envelope and placing €2 inside. Envelopes are available to the community in Meade’s shop, Creeds shop, the Co-Op, The Hill bar, Fogarty’s bar, the Welcome Inn or any committee member. Available to play online until 7pm on day of draw. The draw is held every Monday night. You can also play online at klubfunder.

MEMBERSHIP 2022 IS NOW OPEN

Membership must be paid online through the GAA’s Foireann website. Membership rates are as follows: family - 2 adults (non playing) €50. Family - 2 adults (non playing) and 2/5 children U18 €50. Non playing adult or student €30. Membership covers the use of walking track. Please note: if you are not a paid-up member, you are not covered for insurance. Please note: In the event of a draw for match tickets for Munster or All-Ireland Championsh­ip matches, priority will be given to those who have paid by March 31st.

IRELAND LIGHTS UP AND EVERY STEP COUNTS CHALLENGE

The “Irelands Lights Up” walking campaign and the “Every Step Counts” challenge is going great and to date we have walked 3140km. The target to the 22nd Feb was 4000km so it looks like we will meet and exceed our target. Thanks to all who have come on board for this challenge and if you haven’t already joined the challenge there is plenty time left to do so.

PLAYER REGISTRATI­ON ALL LEVELS

Player registrati­on for both senior levels and Bord na nÓg level are now open. All players must pay their registrati­on by 31st March 2022. This can be played on klubfunder. Anyone not registered by March 31st will not be covered for insurance. Senior player registrati­on rates are as follows: adult player €50, student player €30. Bord Na nÓg registrati­on rates are as follows: U18 single child €20, U18 player 2 children €40, U18 player 3 or more children €50.

FUNDRAISIN­G Last Man Standing – Details Coming Soon. AGM

The Club AGM was held last Friday night in the Glenbrohan­e Community Hall.

A good attendance was present on the night. Our chairman Frankie O’Carroll thanked everyone for what they have done for the last 12 months both on and off the field. Frankie spoke about how we should be proud of what our club has achieved over the past year from underage level to senior level. The clubs continuous developmen­t of the facilities is what will drive the club forward for years to come. The additional playing field, the lit, resurfaced walkway and gym are fantastic additions for the club and thanked all for their support. He spoke about the importance of membership and player registrati­on in advance of the coming season.

A minutes silence was observed for all club and community members who passed away over the last 12 months.

Secretary Liam Russell secretary gave a comprehens­ive report of the past year. He spoke about all teams that represente­d the club in 2021 and thanked the players and management for their time and effort given through the season.

Treasurer Donie Ryan gave a detailed account of all income and expenditur­e for the last year and went through the financial statement in great detail. Donie finished up by thanking all for their support in the last year.

We had a few words from Bord na nÓg chairman TJ Ryan who gave an extensive overview of 2021 and a special mention on the 2 county titles U15 and U13s. There was a special thanks to Criona O’Reilly and Kevin O’Keeffe (both outgoing officers) for their work over the last number of years with Bord na nÓg and wished them well in the future. Joining the Bord na nÓg committee as secretary will be Ethel Hyland and Louise O’Shea as PRO. He commented on how lucky we were as a small club to have 24 coaches over 6 teams and thanked them all for their commitment. Again he thanked all for their continued support and looks forward to the 2022 season. No changes to the senior board committee. Chairman Frankie O’Carroll closed the meeting by wishing the Bouncers the best of luck for the 2022 season.
