Local tractor run sees almost €15K donated to Pieta House

- KATIE GLAVIN

A grand total of € 14,760, collected through a charity tractor run, was recently handed over to Pieta House.

Taking place on December 28, the fundraising tractor run saw over 200 vehicles participating in the Glanmire and Watergrasshill loop.

Organised by Adam Dunne, the run saw funds directed to Pieta House, following the cancellation of their annual Darkness into Light fundraising run.

“We saw a lot of people were doing these runs around the country and with the Darkness into Light run cancelled because of Covid, we thought this would be a good way to fundraise for Pieta House,” Adam told TheAvondhu.

Setting off from Oliver Lynch’s Yard in Sallybrook where registration took place, vehicles decked out in Christmas lights did a loop of Watergrasshill village and followed on to Glanmire for a loop, before finishing at Grandon’s Car Sales premises.

An online fundraiser had been set up ahead of the run where people could donate to Pieta House, with a target of €5,000.

The generosity shown from locals saw contributions far surpass the original goal and Adam and Helen, who organised the run, along with Ann Marie and Tony O’Driscoll of O’Driscoll Transport, recently handed over a cheque well in excess of €14,000 to Pieta House.
