New afterschool service for Fermoy
It’s great news for parents as a new afterschool service is set to open in the heart of Fermoy, with local woman Daria Narbut opening the doors of Daria’s Afterschool Service on Valentine’s Day.
The Tusla registered service will be opening at Fermoy Community Resource Centre on February 14 and will offer a much sought after service.
Daria, who opened a childminding business in the town last year, has had much experience caring for children, having attained all the relevant qualifications and having worked in both childminding and afterschool services in Fermoy, Mitchelstown and Midleton.
“I’m very passionate about working with kids. I love doing arts and crafts with them. Every Saturday I was doing sports and fitness activities with kids in Mitchelstown, but due to Covid, I had to stop doing them for a while. I try to concentrate on all developmental aspects of the child’s life, improving self-confidence, physical skills and social interaction skills,” Daria told TheAvondhu.
According to Daria, having worked in childcare locally for some time, she has received multiple enquiries from parents seeking an afterschool service.
“Many parents are looking for afterschool services and afterschool care. I got lots of enquiries from parents, especially working parents who don’t have anyone to mind their children or don’t have the finance for a childminder. The service I’m opening will provide for those who are in receipt of the National Childcare Scheme, which is a great opportunity,” Daria added.
EXTENSIVE SERVICE
Available from 1pm until 6pm Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays, the new facility will be open during the school midterm and summer holidays from 8am until 6pm.
Hot lunch and evening snacks, as well as assistance with homework, will be provided for children, while Daria says she aims to encourage childhood development and meet the individual needs of the children in her care.
School collection can also be arranged from St Joseph’s National School, Fermoy Education Together National School and Gaelscoil de hÍde.
Parents in receipt of the National Childcare Scheme (NCS) will be able to avail of the service by applying directly through www.ncs.gov.ie and giving their Childcare Identifier Code Key (CHICK) to the provider, in advance of the commencement of the childcare.
Subsidies cannot be applied until the parent has confirmed their child’s registration through the parent portal.
Registration forms and fees are available on request - contact Daria Narbut on 083-4669153.
