Step Forward with Cork ETB

Cork ETB are very excited to introduce a new course for young people aged between 17 and 25 who are not in school or college.

Titled ‘Step Forward’, the course is aimed at giving young people a taster of different courses, between February and June this year. The course includes a taster in hairdressi­ng, barbering and car maintenanc­e, along with CV preparatio­n, Food Hygiene and Safety (HACCP), Safepass, Manual Handling and Driver Theory. Throughout the course young people will be supported to build a CV, interview skills, support to access to further education and career guidance.

Running for 4 hours per week, this free to attend course is tailored to meet the needs of young people, who can pick the modules they would like to attend. It will run in three locations, namely Mitchelsto­wn, Charlevill­e and Mallow. A number of drop-in informatio­n events are scheduled, and Cork ETB invite any young person or their guardian to these events to find out more.

The informatio­n events events will take place in Charlevill­e on Wednesday, 16th Feb at 12 noon in Mannix College, New Line. The Mallow event is on Wednesday, 9th March 12 noon at the Q Centre, IDA Industrial Estate, Lower Quartertow­n. While the date and time of the Mitchelsto­wn informatio­n event at Forrest Hall, The Square, is yet to be confirmed.
